GMI Riptide

Getting started

Welcome to Riptide.
Your company’s AI, set up in minutes.

Riptide is where your organization’s AI lives — governed, isolated, and metered. This short guide walks you from your first sign-in to bringing your own assistants aboard.

Sign in Talk to GMI
  1. Sign in with your work email

Head to the portal and continue with single sign-on. Your work email routes you straight to your organization's Riptide account — no separate password to manage.

    • Use your company email (e.g. [email protected]). Your organization's identity provider handles the login.
    • If you land on a “not recognized” screen, you signed in with the wrong address — use your work email, or ask your administrator to add you.

💡 GMI staff: sign in with GitHub — access is granted through the gmi-security GitHub organization, and you'll land in the GMI Workspace.

  2. Get your bearings

Your portal is your whole AI account in one place — isolated to your organization, governed by design.

    • Workspaces & assistants — everything your teams have built.
    • Usage & budgets — see spend, forecasts, and stay inside your caps.
    • Your team — who has access and what they can do.
  3. Connect your AI tools

Riptide speaks the standard OpenAI API, so your existing tools work with a two-value change — no rebuild.

    • In the portal, open “Connect your AI tools” and create a key (rk_…).
    • Paste the base URL and your key into any OpenAI-compatible app — Cursor, Continue, Open WebUI, or your own code.
    • Every request is protected by Guardrails and metered to your account automatically.

💡 Building your own app? Point the OpenAI SDK at the base URL + key: client = OpenAI(base_url=…, api_key="rk_…"). That's it.

  4. Bring your own bots aboard — meet The Captain

Built an assistant somewhere else — in Claude, ChatGPT, a desktop project? The Captain lifts it into your company's AI in a few plain-language steps.

    • In Assistants, click “⚓ Bring a bot aboard.”
    • Name it, paste its instructions, and upload (or paste) its reference documents.
    • Publish — it's now shared with your whole team, wrapped in Guardrails, and its tokens are metered to your account. No personal accounts in the loop.

💡 Publishing is available to Admins and Managers. A PDF or Word doc won't upload as text — open it and paste the text instead.

  5. Set up your team

Invite teammates and give each the right level of access. Roles are enforced on every request — not just hidden in the UI.

    • Admin — manages the team, keys, assistants, and billing.
    • Manager — manages keys and assistants.
    • Member — uses the AI and files support requests.
    • Auditor — read-only, with billing visibility.

What’s handled for you

The protections that make this safe for regulated and government work are on by default — you don’t configure them.

Guardrails on every request
Prompt-injection defense and PII/PHI redaction run on the live path — automatically, for every tool and assistant.
Your data, isolated
Your workspace, keys, documents, and usage are scoped to your organization. You never see another customer's data, and they never see yours.
Budgets & metering
Every token is counted and attributed to your account. Set caps and watch spend and forecasts from the portal.
